Broadening Horizons

Real Africa, honest work, stronger English.

Thando Horizon is for people at different life stages: youth interns, English learners, project guests, seniors, and volunteers who contribute to guest services, garden work, maintenance, daily routines, and practical lodge life. In return, you gain experiences that stay with you.

Project Stay

Shared costs

Join a larger lodge project, contribute practical skills, and build something useful together with the local team.

  • Room stay during the project
  • Food, water, electricity, and excursions handled separately
  • Dates depend on the next planned project

Project Stays

Build, share skills, and leave something behind.

Once a year, Thandolwami takes on a bigger project: a new building, an important repair, or a special upgrade. The project is practical, but the deeper purpose is connection, learning from one another, and creating friendships that last.

  • Stay free of charge in the lodge rooms during the project
  • Food, water, and electricity are shared proportionally
  • Travel, entrance fees, restaurant visits, and personal costs are self-funded
  • The January 2026 deck became a place for dinners under the stars and stargazing experiences

Next planned project: replacing drainage pipes in the guest and staff areas, then leveling and redesigning the pool surroundings. December 2026 to January 2027.
