Horse Safari Holiday Program

This working riding holiday gives equestrians enthusiasts the opportunity to volunteer with horses and explore the surrounding area on horseback. With a focus on riding with wildlife, this working riding holiday is perfect for those who would love this opportunity, without having to pay the full costs of a riding safari.
Run partly as a budget friendly riding holiday, and partly as a volunteer program, riders help care for highly trained trail horses, in return for plenty or riding. Discover the joys of South Africa from between the ears
of a horse and getting some beautiful encounters with wildlife. Learn about wildlife, the South African bush and help the local community.

Wildlife on the property includes giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, ostrich, eland, sable, nyala and impala. We also ride on private reserves with kudu, crocodile, hippo, warthog and more. There is a chance to see leopard, jackal and hyena as well.

Our horses are running free with the wild animals over the property. There are open stables to feed and tack up. We keep groups small to give volunteers individualised attention.

The 'work' consists of:

Feeding the horses and other wild animals

Give the horses a good groom before every ride

Give the horses a good wash or dip them with tick grease

Once a week we are washing saddle pads and cleaning tack

Extra activities (included in price):

K9 Conservation - learning about anti-poaching/patrol/dogs/snares - around 2 hours every 2 weeks

Daktari Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage - provides local children to learn about their natural heritage - 1 day every 2 weeks
